For the first time in Western Michigan University Football history, the Broncos are nationally ranked.

The 5-0 Broncos are ranked #25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, another major accomplishment in the tenure of coach P.J. Fleck. And this ranking comes on the heels of a blowout victory against arch-rival Central Michigan.

Coming up Saturday is the homecoming game at Waldo Stadium against Northern Illinois, arguably the best MAC football program in the past decade and Fleck's alma mater.

A few years ago, nobody ever envisioned Northern Illinois playing in the Orange Bowl, but they did and didn't embarrass themselves. Could something similar be in the Broncos future. Stay tuned.

Which, by the way, is another great thing happening to the WMU program. Saturday's victory over CMU was on national television (CBS Sports Network) as will be this Saturday night's game from Kalamazoo. This means more exposure for the school and the football program and can only help at recruiting time.
