Kalamazoo authorities are attempting to track down two suspects for various crimes after a shot was fired and a car was stolen Sunday night.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that around 10:30pm April 29, two victims said that they were approached in an alleyway near the 1200 block of Hays Park, by two men who tried to sell them marijuana. The victims refused, leading to one suspect pulling out a gun and firing a shot into the ground before fleeing on foot; the second suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle and drove off.

The KDPS says the vehicle was found quickly and pursued, before it was involved in a minor crash; the suspect then ran away. The Portage Police were brought in to carry out a K-9 track, but the suspect wasn't located.

The suspect who fired the gun is described as a light skinned black male, standing around 6 feet tall with short brown curly hair, wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect who stole the car is described as a dark skinned black man, standing around 5 foot 9 with his hair in dreadlocks. He was seen wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants; both suspects are said to be in their 20’s.

If you have any clues about this crime, or any leads that might lead police to their suspects, you are asked to contact the KDPS or Silent Observer.
