It seems like a major business closes it's doors every other week in Michigan lately.  MC Sports and possibly Gander Mountain is next on that list.

MC Sports could be closing shop after 70 years in Michigan.  The company has filed for bankruptcy according to WoodTV.com,

MC currently has more than $170 million in annual revenues and employs more than 1,300 people.

But in 2016, the company operated at a $5.4 million loss, according to the filing. The company states it has $3.8 million in trade debt to Nike, $2.4 million to Under Armour and almost a half-million dollars to Wilson. The company also owes its employees $150,000 in matching funds to company-provided 401k plans.

In the filing, President and CEO Bruce Ullery says the company was unable to reach an out-of-court settlement with its creditors.

The bad news doesn't end there.  According to reuters,

U.S. hunting and fishing chain Gander Mountain Co is preparing to file for bankruptcy as early as this month, after an aggressive effort to expand its store base failed to pull in new customers, according to people familiar with the matter.

As far as sporting good stores in West Michigan:  Dunham's, Field and Stream, Dick's, Lee's Adventure Sports and Gazelle Sports remain standing.

How do you think the possible closing of all MC Sports and Gander Mountain stores will effect West Michigan?
