This Photo was taken by a passer by, Jon Zondervan, when he saw the Gull Lake School Bus on the corner of 30th and Gull Road in Richland Township. This corner has had passed accidents during the winter as the particular corner has a very steep ditch on either side.

Zondervan stated that after he posted the photo on Facebook to ask if anyone had further information, a mother who had a student on the bus said no students were injured, though it was a startling event for early Friday morning.

While it was raining this morning and this could have lead to low visibility or slippery roads, no statements have been posted about the cause of the off road bus. In the state of Michigan  those who are applying to be a School Bus Driver have to go under several examinations including a medical examination to explore if there are any issues that may be an issue while transporting students.

Currently there are several positions posted in the Kalamazoo area on job sites like Indeed.com that are looking to hire School Bus Drivers. Most postings require that the driver has a clean driving history, be able to pass drug screening and be willing to obtain the needed training through the hiring school for their CDL. Any updated will be followed and posted if they become available.

Do you think we should require more out of our School Bus Drivers? Should there be some kind of point system for events that occur while you are driving on the clock?
