Ascension Michigan, the company that owns Ascension-Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo among others, has named a new president. Peter Bergmann will assume the duties on February 11th.

In a release, the company says "Bergmann comes to Ascension Borgess from Parma Medical Center, a part of the University Hospitals system in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as President for nearly two years. Parma is the largest community hospital in the University Hospitals system and achieved 5-star quality ratings from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2018."

But Bergmann is no stranger to the Ascension organization.

Previously, Bergmann served within the Ascension system for 11 years as President of Sisters of Charity Hospital and St. Joseph Campus, a two-campus hospital in Buffalo, New York, where he achieved notable increases in quality and patient satisfaction measures, successfully merged two medical staffs, and led a financial turnaround. His previous experience includes additional leadership positions in Catholic healthcare and in other facilities in Pennsylvania.- Ascension release
