I will be interviewing Dr. Gary Wolfram today at the top of the 10:00 hour.

Dr.Wolfram is the William E. Simon Professor of Economics at Hillsdale College and President of Hillsdale Policy Group, a consulting firm specializing in taxation and policy analysis. he received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Dr. Wolfram and I will be discussing auto insurance rates in Michigan.  Michigan’s no-fault automobile insurance law has been blamed for steep increases in premiums paid by drivers. Michigan car insurance premiums are twice the national average.  Now politicians and many analysts generally agree that Michigan’s mandatory and unlimited personal injury protection (PIP) is the main culprit behind the high costs. One of the drivers of that high cost is the ability of hospitals and other health care providers to charge higher medical care reimbursements for auto crash victims.
