They have the sign, they have the spirit, the next logical step is a Club Soda reunion at Old Dog Tavern.

If you were growing up in Kalamazoo in the 80's and 90's, even into the 2000's, you could find the hottest local and regional acts in pretty much one place. It was Club Soda on Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo.

That's the one thing that most people mention when talking about Club Soda and places like that. How vibrant the local music scene was. Looking back, many of those acts have gone on to jobs, children, etc. And sadly, there really wasn't a next generation is supplant them. But that's a post for another day.

My personal fantasy bucket list would've been to see Eric Clapton jamming the blues at Club Soda. Alas, probably not going to happen. But plenty of people have memories of seeing Domestic Problems, Knee Deep Shag, Umphrey McGee, Duke Tumatoe and so many more.

Mark Wedel, who's written in the Gazette for years on local entertainment, has a nice piece here reminiscing about Club Soda and the irony that it's now a Catholic bookstore.
