A Battle Creek man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly threatened a homeowner with various weapons.

Battle Creek Police officers responded to a home in the first block of Vale St around 5am Thursday, on reports of an unwanted man with several weapons and three pit bulls.  When police arrived they found the suspect unarmed, and the 34-year-old Battle Creek man and his dogs were put into patrol cars while the investigation took place.

Authorities discovered that the suspect had been arguing with the resident of the house, over property that was inside. An hour after that, the man returned with shotguns, an axe, and two large hunting knives.

Police say that the suspect pried open a door to the house, and threatened the homeowner by pointing a shotgun at them.

The man was arrested without incident, and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on felonious assault and home invasion charges. The dogs were returned to the man's girlfriend unharmed.
