Hard to believe but one of the biggest box stores will be closing an underperforming Southwest Michigan location in early 2018.

Benton Harbor's longtime radio host Pat Moody broke the news that some thought was a hoax at first.

My colleagues on the WSJM News team however have reportedly gained confirmation from a store manager at the Benton Harbor location in the Fairplain Plaza, that indeed, the popular retailer would cease operations here on February 3, 2018.

Moody is referring to Benton Harbor's Target store that now has a target closing date early next year. Once this store goes out of business, shoppers will have to drive to South Bend or Kalamazoo/Portage for the nearest Target store.
