These Are The Best Elementary and Middle Schools in Michigan
We keep hearing from those that are left in their ideology including politicians, pundits, newscasters and reporters, that non-traditional public schools are not producing results.
Well apparently they are wrong once again.
The Mackinac Center for Public Policy released its new report card for elementary and middle schools last week. They also always include and adjustment for the socioeconomic background of a school’s student body in their evaluation of academic performance, they inform us they do this to improve the validity of school-to-school comparisons.
From an article published by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy they found:
Of the top 100 public elementary/middle schools statewide with the overall highest academic performance on the report card, 30 were charter schools.
They are even upfront and honest, unlike many in the traditional public school system, and tell us that some of the top 30 charter schools are run by evil, my word, for-profit corporations.
Corporations that seem to be doing a lot more good for the children of Michigan than many traditional public schools.
The top rated charter school in their report card was Hamtramck Academy, an elementary/middle school in southeast Michigan. The Mackinac Center report card states that Hamtramck Academy is operated by the for-profit company National Heritage Academies. I ask all of you nay-sayers should we shut this Charter school down.
The education policy director for the Mackinac Center, Ben DeGrow, was quoted in their article stating:
Parents are looking for access to schools that give their children a better chance to succeed…Certain politicians don’t like the fact that many parents have chosen quality schools that happen to contract with for-profit companies to provide instruction. State leaders should be focused on giving families access to educational options that work best for them, not putting on ideological blinders to go after schools that have made legal contract arrangements that they don’t like.
The citizens of Michigan should be first and foremost concerned about the quality of the education a child is receiving, not if it helps the state, teachers, unions and administrators first and foremost.
