Breaking News: 11 Police Officers Shot, 5 Dead

Less than 5 minutes into a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas, snipers open fire on police officers.

After 2 black men were killed by police in less than 48 hours in Louisiana and Minnesota, people broke into protest all over the nation.  There were peaceful protests from Oakland, California to Minneapolis, MN.

According to CNN,

A total of 10 police officers were shot by snipers during the protests, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said. An 11th officer was shot during an exchange of gunfire with one of the suspects, authorities said.

 

According to the latest NBC News update,

Three people were in custody and a fourth suspect exchanged gunfire with authorities in a parking garage downtown into the morning, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said.

NBC Dallas Fort-Worth reported the fourth suspect had been "neutralized" at around 2:45 a.m. (3:45 ET). Earlier, he had told police negotiators that "the end is coming" and that "there are bombs all over the place in this garage and downtown," Brown said.

(Update) The 4th suspect has killed himself.
