A tip from a citizen led to a pair of arrests in Kalamazoo Sunday.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was contacted Sunday by a citizen, who said they saw several drug sales going on out of a car in the 900 block of Douglas Ave.

When police arrived, officers found the car with a strong marijuana smell coming from it.  The driver admitted he had the plant, and handed it to the officers. A search of the vehicle also turned up a handgun.

The driver was arrested on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Marijuana, while a passenger was arrested on several warrants.

The KDPS says in a release that this incident “is a shining example” of how the community can help make things safer.
