The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 200 block of East Leroy Street in the Village of Burlington, at 5:20 Thursday afternoon, to a report of shots fired and two people being assaulted with a baseball bat.

Upon arrival, deputies found that a 35 year-old man had been assaulted with a baseball bat, as well as a 23 year-old woman. The woman is a sister of the 21 year-old man who is a resident of the home and accused of assaulting the pair and firing a firearm inside the residence.

Deputies, using a K-9 team, conducted a lengthy search and located the suspect in the area and took him into custody.

He is lodged at the Calhoun County Jail and charged with two counts of felonious assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
