Congress is busy patting itself on the back today and claiming all sorts of bipartisan achievement. Sadly, there is none of that.

Since 1997 members of congress have had to step in nearly every year to do the same thing. The so called ‘Doc Fix’ prevents a huge cut, this year an estimated 21%, to the reimbursement money paid to physicians who take medicare payments. Sure, it may save the doctors from going out of business for them refusing to take elderly patients on Medicare, but it fails in every other way.

Over the next decade it will add at least $500 billion to the nations debt according to the Government Accounting Office. It will also saddle seniors with additional costs they had not anticipated.

The truth is you need to educate yourself about the so called Doc Fix. What we really need is an actual fix for the Doc Fix.
