Driver Crashes While Fleeing Gunfire

Police say a driver fleeing gunfire yesterday morning crashed into a utility pole, causing a power outage in Kalamazoo. According to Public Safety officers, someone standing along Florence Street opened fire on a car driving by at around 4am. The vehicle was hit several times. The driver lost control and slammed into a power pole. Two homes and two other vehicles were also hit by bullets. Dozens of people were without power, but no one was injured.  So far, no suspects are in custody and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
