An embezzlement case at a Battle Creek community development organization is under investigation. Battle Creek police say tools and other materials from Neighborhoods Inc. of Battle Creek were reported stolen earlier this week.

Officers were called just before 9:30 Tuesday morning and were told by members of the organization that they believed a former employee took nearly $3,000 worth of tools, chairs, carpet, moving blankets and lumber. The man, who has not been identified, is suspected of purchasing items and then either selling them online or using them at a cabin on a personal property he owns. Police said some of the items were apparently seen being sold on Facebook Marketplace. They also said evidence of some of the other stolen items could be seen in family photographs and were displayed on other areas of the ex-employee’s social media accounts.

The investigation into the embezzlement continues. No charges have been filed at this time.
