Fatal Fire Case Now Homicide Investigation

Police in Kalamazoo are questioning a man in connection with a fatal fire that occurred over the weekend that is now being called a homicide.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was found dead in her bed when officers responded to a report of a fire in an apartment at the Clayborne Court Apartments Saturday night.

Investigators identified a person of interest who was later caught by Battle Creek Police and sent to Kalamazoo for questioning.

Officers have not announced an exact cause of death as they wait for the results of an autopsy.
