Foodies and Mushroom Lovers, Here’s Your Festival

This sounds like something more for foodies, but considering it's in Boyne City, grab the clubs and your best girl, and make it a getaway weekend. The National Morel Mushroom Festival is May 11-15th in Boyne City on Lake Charlevoix.

If you find it fun to forage the woods in search of the rare morel mushrooms, this is for you. If you want to try, a guided practice hunt is one of the activities on Friday the 13th. (Yes, I know how that sounds. An amateur hunting for mushrooms on Friday the 13th. What could go wrong?

The National Morel Mushroom Hunting Championship is held on Saturday the 14th as part of the festival. Here, hunters can win prizes in a variety of categories.

There will also be a carnival with rides and games for the kids, mushroom seminars and the “Taste of Morels” where visitors can sample the best mushroom recipes from area restaurants.
