Charges have now been filed against a Calhoun County man accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students while teaching in Branch County.

The Battle Creek Enquirer says Friday that 43-year-old Jason Ferrell was arraigned in Branch County Court on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and 4 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, with authorities alleging he sexually abused a 15-year-old.

The teen reportedly was a student at Quincy High School, where Ferrell had worked for 20 years; he resigned from the school in January. Ferrell’s Emmett Township home was raided by authorities last week, and he might be facing charges in Calhoun County as well, since some of the crimes allegedly took place there.

A preliminary examination in Branch County is set for May 4.
