Groundbreaking Set For 600 E. Michigan Ave. Project: ‘The Foundry’

600 E. Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo, the site of a former foundry that developer Treystar is turning into a mixed-use property, will move one step closer to reality with a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday July 21 at 4PM.

Treystar has named the project "The Foundry", because it's (located in the River’s Edge neighborhood) at the site of a former metal foundry, whose history dates back to 1907. The developer also notes "the project’s name represents the property’s history and former productivity as well as its capacity to be molded into a reimagined form with a variety of uses, which will be announced at the groundbreaking.

“Naming this project ‘The Foundry’ is as much of a nod to the past as it is the future,” said Treystar’s Fritz Brown, the project’s Development/Leasing Manager.

Plans for the approximately 53,000-square-foot-property include creating office space and on-site dining. Additional information about The Foundry, including specific uses and tenants, will be announced at the groundbreaking ceremony. An estimated completion date has tentatively been set for July 2017.
