One worker has died. after a roof collapse at the Holland Civic Center.

Update: According to the Holland Sentinel, one worker has died after this afternoon's roof collapse at the Civic Center.

Two people were initially trapped; one has already been freed.

Ottawa County Dispatch could not provide any details about the condition of either person.

Aero Med was called to the scene.

The view from one of WOOD TV8’s skycam cameras showed one person being loaded into an ambulance, which then left the scene.

Capt. Keith Mulder with the Holland Department of Public Safety has confirmed that a section of the Civic Center roof has collapsed....

Mulder said he doesn’t know if the trapped person is still trapped or not. GDK Construction representatives and Mayor Nancy DeBoer are on scene. Mulder said he will release a statement in an hour in regards to the incident.

Some police are beginning to clear the scene, but many remain. Initially, up to eight police cruisers responded to the scene along with two fire engines and two ambulances.

The building, which dates back to the mid 1950s. has been under renovations and set to re-open in fall of 2018.
