Quick Takes is a newspaper column that ran a decade ago in the Chicago Sun-Times. Zay N. Smith is the man who wrote it.

Flash forward to 2014. Zay now operates the zaysmith.com website. And the topic this week was the word "the", as in it's not Smokey the Bear, but Smokey Bear, no “the” in front of Magna Carta  or hoi polloi and always a “the” in front of the Mahatma Gandhi.

I wrote yesterday to remind him that it is The Ohio State University. And Glen Dillon and Jeff "Gator" Green played "The The"'s music back in the 90's on Post-Modern KFR.
