I’m Very Happy for “New” U of M Football Voice

Dan Dierdorf

It’s not that I’m a fan of U of M football. Please don’t get upset by that. But I’m very happy the new analyst on U of M Football broadcasts is Dan Dierdorf. (Frank Beckmann has retired, and Jim Brandstatter is taking over play by play duties) It has nothing to do with the fact that he’s an NFL Hall of Famer, a U of M legend, etc.

When I was a sophomore in college, and just getting started in this business, my first assignment was to go interview Dierdorf and St. Louis Football Cardinals teammate Jim Hart at a Special Olympics event on campus. I was scared beyond belief. But Dan and Jim both could not have been nicer to me. Answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable. So, thanks again, Dan, and good luck on the new gig.
