The great thing about some of these "-2" or "-3" channels on your digital TV is the retro channels that are broadcast on them. If you're like me, and enjoy trivia or just don't find anything interesting on TV, they are a wonderful alternative.

Around these parts, there are several TV channels dedicated to retro-TV, like an oldies format on the radio. If you have cable or satellite, you have TVLand, but if you're only watching over the air channels, there's Antenna TV (17-2), This TV (17-3, and ME TV (64-2). It's a great chance to catch up on memories for older viewers or learn a little TV history for younger viewers. One thing I love is seeing famous actors early in their careers.

Which brings me to my point,  Antenna TV is doing a "Doogie-Thon," a Doogie Howser marathon, beginning Saturday afternoon at 4:00PM. Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the Oscars on Sunday night, and Doogie Howser, M.D.  is the series that originally made him famous. It ran on ABC from 1989-1992. The premise was Doogie was a young medical prodigy, trying to live a normal life of a teenager. Some major TV talent produced the series. It was created by Steven Bochco (Hill St. Blues) and David E. Kelley (LA Law, Ally McBeal).

Here's the opening sequence, which really explains the series well.
