Is Gun Ownership A Sin?

For the second time in a just few days Pope Francis went wandering away from the scriptures and into the great unknown. Last week the Holy Father truly turned the debate about Global Warming and Climate Change into the theology most of us already believed it had become. The Pontiff scolded world leaders in his writings for not doing enough on the important ‘moral issue.’

This week he is wandering deeper into the weeds, the ones apparently blooming in excess these days because of surging carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

Pope Francis took time to inform those involved in weapons manufacturing that they're not really Christians. "If you trust only men you have lost," he told thousands of young people during a rally in the Italian city of Turin. "It makes me think of ... people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn't it?"

The crowd applauded and then he went on to criticize those who invest in weapons saying, "Duplicity is the currency of today ... they say one thing and do another."

It is not the first time Pope Francis has criticized gun owners and manufacturers. A year ago, he called them, "merchants of death.”
