The 10-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a car Wednesday in the Kalamazoo area has now been identified.

MLive reports that Daniel Sluiter had been leaving a youth group meeting with a sibling and two other children Wednesday night, when he attempted to cross West Main in Kalamazoo Township.

Daniel crossed in an area without a crosswalk or traffic signals, and was killed when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old.

The boy’s school, Tree of Life in Kalamazoo, had councilors on hand Thursday to help students.
