Ohio Man Accused Of Armed Rape In Kalamazoo Monday Evening

Police in Kalamazoo arrested an Ohio man accused of using a handgun during an armed sexual assault of a female victim Monday evening. At around 9:15, authorities received reports of an assault in the 2100 block of Superior Avenue. The victim indicated she had traveled to that area to meet an acquaintance. When she arrived the suspect presented a handgun and began sexually assaulted her.

Kalamazoo officers worked throughout the night on the case and their investigations eventually led them to a home near where the assault occurred. A 26-year-old male from Ohio who was apparently in town visiting friends was taken into custody at that residence. He is currently lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and his name has not been released.
