The Lake Michigan Credit Union branch on the corner of S. Westnedge Ave. and Cedar Street was robbed on Wednesday afternoon, making it the third time LMCU branches in the Kalamazoo area have been robbed this year.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is expected to release more details soon on the robbery as they obtain security footage. Officers utilized their K-9 unit to try to track down the suspects yesterday, but they were not able to pick up a trail. Employees at the credit union say two suspects, described as African-american men entered at around 5:00 pm demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the two fled on foot. No weapon was shown and there were no injuries reported.

In the spring of this year, two robberies happened about a month apart at the LMCU branch on Gull Road. The first one happened in mid-March when two men entered wearing masks demanding cash before fleeing with cash. Then in mid-April, police responded to the same branch on reports of a robbery involving one suspect who took cash and fled on foot. There were no injuries in these two robberies and no reports of any arrests in the cases.
