It wasn't one of the famous cereals. In fact, it had the most basic of names, but Product 19 had a very loyal following and now those who loved it are mourning the demise of Product 19.

Word is Kellogg's made it official earlier this month. Product 19 is officially discontinued.

Product 19 was Kellogg's answer to General Mills' Total, which was a big hit back in the late 1960's, billing itself as "instant nutrition".

Kellogg's already had Special K, which came out in 1955. But apparently, the company felt it needed another product to compete with Total.

The spokesperson was University of Michigan legend Tom Harmon. His then 21 year old son Mark appeared in one of those commercials in 1972.
