Beginning next month, the City of Kalamazoo will begin accepting applications for medical marijuana business permits.

This year, the City Commission approved allowing medical marijuana facilities to open up within city limits consistent with state law, and the City Clerk announced Thursday that they are awaiting those businesses. The application period runs from June 7 to June 28, and no applications will be accepted outside of that time.

Applications can be filled out at the Clerk's office, or online at kalamazoocity.org/medicalmarihuana. Applicants need to provided a filled out application form, all attachments as required, the full permit fee, and photo ID.

Also on Thursday, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs announced that they had put together Inspection Guides for all five types of allowed pot businesses, and these large documents detail what exactly businesses need to do to be compliant with state law.
