Live Events Internship

Interested in events and looking for an opportunity to learn behind the scenes at some of Southwest Michigan's largest community events? Townsquare Media is always looking for interns to help within our live events division. You'll gain knowledge of the event logistics, marketing, sponsorship and execution all wrapped up into an interactive and engaging learning experience!

Overview:

To provide a first-hand experience pertaining to all aspects in live events management, including marketing, vendor recruitment, event layout, entertainment, working with volunteers, and on-site logistics. Intern will be able to put skills and knowledge gained throughout undergrad to work in multiple event settings, and is encouraged to ask questions or request special projects to further the learning experience.

 

Projects/Goals:

  • Assist live events manager with event work plan and aspects of event preparation. This could include any of the following:
    • Event marketing and social media
    • Vendor recruitment and follow through
    • Coordinating with vendors for site logistics (tents, tables, banners, porta johns, security)
    • Event week preparation (gathering supplies, coordinating event day schedule)
    • Site set up
    • New event idea generation and planning
  • Specific roles/tasks for the following summer 2016 projects:
    • America on Tap, Kalamazoo, MI (May TBD)
      • Helping with event week prep
      • Assisting with site set up
      • Assisting with entrance/ticket gate and merchandise sales at event
    • Kalamazoo Ribfest, Kalamazoo, MI (August 4-6)
      • Helping with pre-event logistics and event week prep
      • Assisting with site set up and vendor check in on August 3
      • Managing special competitions for best ribs and people’s choice; overseeing volunteers helping in these areas
      • Assisting where most needed during event from August 4-6
    • Insane Inflatable 5k, Kalamazoo, MI (TBD)
      • Helping with pre-event logistics and event week prep
      • Captain role on event day for specific part of event (registration, start/finish, awards, entertainment, etc.)

 

Internship Duration:

Flexible start date and duration depending up on intern’s schedule and goals

10-20 hours per week

Week of event may have up to 40 hours of work involved

Must be available on event days

 

Requirements:

Internship is unpaid for the purpose of a collegiate special project and will be given school credit. Interns must be able to receive school credit for the hours of the internship. Interns must be at least 18 years of age upon start of internship.
