A 33 year old teacher and baseball coach at Marshall High School was arraigned on charges of having a sexual relationship with a teenage student.

Jason Bushong could get life in prison, if convicted on the most serious of four charges.   He is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Calhoun County Jail.  Bushong faces one count of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, due to the victim being 15-years-old at the time.  That charge is punishable by up to life in prison. Three other third degree charges stem from the sexual assault that allegedly took place when the girl was 16-years-old.

Investigators say the mom found the teenage girl in a car with her 33-year-old teacher near his Bedford Township home and called police.

Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert said in court that Bushong is a danger to the community.  He said the teacher has approached other teenage students and has tried to contact the alleged victim since his arrest.

In a written statement, Marshall Public Schools Superintendent Randy Davis said, “We are acting decisively to address the teacher’s employment status. The District strongly condemns the actions allegedly committed by the teacher."

Sheriff Matt Saxton said the investigation shows that Bushong had sex with the girl in Marshall and at a residence on Halbert Road in Bedford Township.  Investigators have executed a pair of search warrants at the Halbert Road home and one on Allen Street in Marshall. Phones and telephones have been seized as part of the investigation.
