In the wake of the Lassy Nassar scandal and an ever-widening circle of sexual misconduct allegations, Michigan State University has issued an official statement of support for students.

The message of support is on the front page of the university's official website, and on the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages of Michigan State University and it reads, in full:

We hear you. We see you. We are sorry for your pain and grief. We commend you for your bravery and strength. We are committed to making MSU a safe and inclusive community for all.

The message was accompanied by a teal spartan helmet- teal being the color associated with support for victims of sexual assault. Recently, the rock on the East Lansing campus was painted teal with the names of Nassar's victims listed.

Moving forward the MSU Board of Trustees sought to appoint former Michigan governor John Engler as the school's new president- a move met with protest by students who feel they were left out of the process.
