I was just reading an article about the release of the new Star Wars movie; the first one in a decade and the 7th in the franchise's 38 year history. As with most every release, with it will come licensed (and unlicensed) merchandise of all kinds. Get ready to cough up big bucks just in time for the holidays.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens," will be out next month and many tie-ins are already available. And more to come as we enter holiday shopping season.

Advanced tickets sales for the movie have already generated millions for LucasFilms. Merchandise sales are expected to be in the $2 billion dollar range for just the final quarter of the year. And it's not only toys but also food items, like "Star Wars macaroni and cheese" and "Cheez-its". There's also light sabre barbeque tongues and waffle makers.

Know one thing. When the Lucas Museum opens in Chicago in a few years, be prepared to drop a wad in the the gift shop.
