Hoping to have better success than the three previous businesses, Tropical Smoothie Cafe is now open at Gull and Sprinkle Roads.

The area's third Tropical Smoothie Cafe opened Sunday (May 6th). It's one of the latest national franchises designed around "healthier" eating to have entered the market here, along with the Core Life Eatery and Earth Fare Market in Portage. (A fourth TSC store is set to open in Battle Creek on Beckley Road, though with the Battle Creek area's economic problems, connecting with a clientele might be a tougher go, with smoothies starting at around $5 and up.)

The menu touts healthy smoothies, made with fruit juices, and offers supplements that you would find in health and nutrition stores. The food menu features wraps, flatbreads, sandwiches and bowls.

That Gull and Sprinkle location, on the Gull Road end of the building has failed to find success so far, but previous failures were likely more attributable to "mom and pop" businesses lacking deep pockets. The store location started out as a card and flower shop, then became a gyro restaurant, and finally failing this past year as a sushi restaurant.
