A Kalamazoo couple is facing charges after they allegedly assaulted a woman on Valentine’s Day.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were called to Bronson Hospital around 6pm Tuesday, and found a 38-year-old woman with facial injuries. The woman told police that a man and woman had beaten her up, over a debt.

When police went to the couple’s home in the 100 block of Allen St, the man refused to answer the door, so the Kalamazoo Metro Tactical Team was brought in to serve a search warrant. The male suspect had a history of violent crime so police were cautious.

The 49-year-old man was arrested when he was attempting to leave through the back door, and will be facing a charge of Assault with Intent to Cause Great Bodily Harm. A firearm was found inside the home as well.

The 40-year-old female suspect was not at the scene, but an assault warrant is being sought against her.
