Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are investigating after several individuals were shot at with a paintball gun Thursday.

The KDPS says that sometime Thursday they received a call from someone shot by a paintball gun from a vehicle, in the area of Redwood and Greenwood Avenues in Kalamazoo. When officers responded, they found other victims who had also been shot at. Authorities say persons of interest and a vehicle were located and identified.

No serious injuries were reported.

A 22-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested on unrelated warrants, and the incident continues to be looked into.

According to The Telegraph, paintball guns can be dangerous if handled improperly. There have been cases of teens suffering abdominal injuries due to be struck by the projectiles. An article on the US Army's website notes that according to the instructions for one paintball marker, if the firearm's projectile velocity is set above 300 feet per second (about 200 mph) injury could result.
