The trial for a former police officer accused of lying to investigators probing the November 2007 slaying of an 11-year-old girl has been delayed.

47-year old Raymond McCann of Three Rivers is a former Constantine police reserve officer charged with lying in testimony related to the unsolved 2007 homicide of Jodi Parrack. The fifth-grader at Riverside Elementary School in Constantine was found dead in the Constantine Township Cemetery.

McCann is a former friend of Parrack’s family and has not been charged with what has been declared homicide by asphyxiation.

His attorney has requested a change of venue for the trial because media coverage of the case could make it hard to seat an impartial jury. A hearing on defense evidence and venue motions is scheduled for December 18.
