Miguel Cabrera is still looking for hit number 1, as the Tigers improve to 3-1 on the season. The Tigers bullpen kept things interesting, but cleaned up their own messes, to protect a 4-1 lead.

Boston struck first in the 2nd inning, with Moreland scoring on a sacrifice fly from Jackie Bradley Jr.  A Jose Iglesias homerun, to left, got the Tigers offense started in the third. But it was a three run, 5th inning when the Tigers got to Rodriguez, setting the tone for the game, with a James McCann homerun, followed by back to back doubles from Iglesias and Jones. Iglesias scored on a wild pitch and a single from Ian Kinsler.

Jordan Zimmerman was impressive, going 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 strikeouts. Greene took over in the 7th and tallied two quick outs before things began to unravel. Ultimately, he did record the final out for a shut out inning, stranding runners on second and third. Kyle Ryan took over in the 8th with a walk and a single. Infielders came to the rescue for Ryan. Miguel rocketed a throw to second for a force out, followed by a ground ball, inning ending double play. Justin Wilson took over in the 9th and wrapped up Saturday’s game in 1-2-3 fashion, including two strikeouts.

For Red Sox pitching, outside the Iglesias home run, Rodriguez cruised through the first four innings. Ben Taylor took over for Rodriguez to record the final out in the fifth. After a shutout 6th inning, the Red Sox went to their bullpen, following back to back walks to McCann and Jones. Noe Ramirez took over for Taylor, stranding both runners.

Jackie Bradley Jr left the game in the 9th inning, injuring his tow while rounding first. Two different fans will be paying hefty fines, after running out on the field and causing two delays in two different innings.

The Tigers take on the Red Sox again, Sunday afternoon. Daniel Norris will take on former Tiger pitcher Rick Porcello. Broadcast time is 12:45, on 95.3 WBCK. The teams wrap up their four game series, Monday afternoon. Then it’s the Twins, coming to town for three straight day games at Comerica Park.
