A once-in-a-lifetime experience as the Rockford High School marching band will travel to New York this Thanksgiving and be a part of the world's largest parade.

More than 44 million people watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and in 2017, they will see West Michigan's best as Rockford High School's marching band is making the trip to New York City to appear in the world's largest parade.

WZZM13.com reports the entourage numbered 300+ as trumpet players and tubists, flutists and the flag team, trombonists, clarinet players, saxophonists and drummers along with family and chaperones loaded onto 7 buses and departed for New York city on Sunday morning. This is the first time West Michigan has been selected to be in the parade and only 12 marching bands are chosen each year.

NBC has 4 hours of television coverage planned, from 9-Noon on Thanksgiving Day. Your best bet to catch the Rockford Band is at 11:44 am. Let's hope they are not in a commercial!
