Four months after the Alamo Drafthouse shut it's doors in downtown Kalamazoo, the biggest movie chain in the country is taking its place.MLive reports that AMC Theatres in taking over the theatre location South Street and Portage Road.

AMC says in a release it plans to remodel the location, beginning with comfortable seating.

"The theater will feature AMC's Signature Recliners, reserved seating and ticketless entry, the latest in sight and sound equipment, a remodeled concession area and, with AMC Feature Fare, an expanded menu far beyond the traditional movie theater fare,"

In time, alcohol sales could be added to the menu.

One interesting potential conflict pointed out by MLive's Al Jones is the working name for the acquistion is "AMC Kalamazoo 10". Across town, Goodrich operates the "Kalamazoo 10".
