Michigan's Secretary of State's office is stepping up its game when it comes to customer service. With the Secretary of State's offices closed for at least two days this during the weather emergency, offices and "supercenters" will be open extended hours this weekend and early next week, to make up for the inconvenience. More importantly, late fees will be waived for the two days the offices were officially closed.

The two nearest "supercenters" (Grand Rapids and Lansing) are nearest the immediate Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area. (others are in Clinton Township, Detroit, Flint, Livonia and Pontiac) They will stay open three hours later than normal (until 3 p.m.) on Saturday. (Feb. 2) All branch offices will stay open two hours later (until 7 p.m.) on Monday, Feb. 4, and Tuesday, Feb. 5. "The Department of State Information Center at (888) SOS-MICH / (888) 767-6424 also will stay open during those extended hours Monday, Feb. 4, and Tuesday, Feb. 5", according to a SOS release.

The SOS release also mentions that many transactions such as license plates, driver’s licenses and ID cards can be done online at ExpressSOS.com or by mail.
