The City of Battle Creek will go under a snow emergency beginning Saturday afternoon. The City announced Friday afternoon that their facilities will be closed after 3pm.

The snow emergency begins at 2pm Saturday afternoon, with residents being asked to not park on residential streets until further notice. Residents will be given 24 hours to move their vehicles before law enforcement contacts registered owners of vehicles. Towing will be considered a last resort.

The City also announced that Full Blast will be closed this weekend and Battle Creek Transit buses will operate with slight delays.

As for plowing priorities, the City clears downtown and the main trunk lines in Battle Creek first. Those trunk lines include M-66 (Capital Avenue and the I-94 business loop), M-89 (East and West Michigan Avenue), M-37 (Bedford and Dickman roads) and M-96 (East and West Columbia). The City then clears roads by neighborhood and in order.

For other areas in Battle Creek, including Bedford, Pennfield and Emmett townships, the Calhoun County Road Commission is in charge of clearing these roads.
