Reports are saying that one student lied about being robbed. Earlier this month there were two reports of students being mugged on Western Michigan University's campus.

The Kalamazoo police have now released the statement that one of these reports were made up. As Battle Creek Enquirer reported, the Public Safety Chief of WMU, Scott Merlo, told that the student’s injuries weren’t consistent with the version of events he gave police and during a follow-up interview Monday he admitted that the robbery didn’t happen.

It was also reported that the student was intoxicated at the time of the report, so it is thought that the injuries he had could have come from a fall, and not the fabled robbery. In efforts to continue to ensure the safety of its students, WMU has issued reports to all regarding these incidents.
