Suspect Held After New Years Day Stabbing

A man remains behind bars in Kalamazoo following a New Year’s morning fight.

The 28-year-old New Mexico man was visiting relatives at a mobile home community on Willow Lane in Kalamazoo Township when he got into a fight at around 5am with a local man.

Police say the suspect broke a bottle over the 27-year-old’s head and then stabbed him with it, before biting the man several times.

Both men were taken to the hospital and the suspect was then taken to the County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
