When thinking about how summer is slipping away, I realized that I have not been camping in years. It is how I grew up, we camped a lot when I was younger. Then for many years friends and I would take off for a weekend, but I have not done that in what seems like forever. Then I had a thought...what about winter camping?!?

I have never camped in the winter, but I am a cross country skier, a down hill skier, and and I enjoy ice skating. It might be fun...really cold...but fun. I checked out Earthsedgeusa.com and they listed the best places for winter camping and guess what?! There is a place not to far from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, it's in Sawyer Michigan.

There’s no better view of the frozen lake than at the Warren Dunes State Park campground. Open year round to campers and hikers alike.

Or if you don't a bit of a drive, Tahquamenon Falls sounds like an amazing place to camp in the winter!

One of Northern Michigan’s premier campsites, Tahquamenon is a great place to visit in the winter. The sight of the massive waterfalls crashing into a frozen river is one you can’t see many other places. Featuring both Upper and Lower Falls, and campsites, you’ll pretty much have your pick of spaces in the winter.
