“The conviction today will hopefully bring some peace of mind to the parents who trusted that their children would be safe at this daycare,” said Schuette.

According to a press release from the office of Attorney General Bill Schutte, it was annocued today that Cary Jones, 47, of Three Rivers, was guilty of six counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct - Second Degree and two counts of Accosting and Soliciting a Child for Immoral Purposes. The crimes took place at a home daycare, of which he was a resident.

“The conviction today will hopefully bring some peace of mind to the parents who trusted that their children would be safe at this daycare,” said Schuette. “Michigan’s children are too precious and we must do everything we can to keep them safe. I will continue to be dedicated to taking predators like this off the street.”

Jones was home during a majority of the time that the children were being supervised by the owner of the daycare. He often provided transportation from school to the daycare and would sometimes be left alone with the children at the residence.

Sentencing for Jones is set for November 19, 2015 in front of visiting Judge Kathleen Brickley in St. Joseph County’s 45th Circuit Court. Each count of Criminal Sexual Conduct - Second Degree, is a felony punishable by up to fifteen years in prison. Each count of Accosting and Soliciting a Child for Immoral Purposes is a felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison and/or a $4,000 fine.
