The Tigers lost to the Texas Rangers 5-2 on the ESPN Sunday night game.   With the loss, the Tigers drop the series, 2-1.  They’re still in third place in the Central Division, two games out of first.

Both teams scored single runs in the first two innings, but the Rangers pulled ahead 4-2 on home runs in the fifth and sixth against Matt Boyd.  Boyd gave up four runs on 12 hits and left with one out in the sixth.   Texas added an insurance run in the 8th off Blaine Hardy.  Miguel Cabrera had three of the Tigers’ 7 hits.

The Tigers now hit the road for 11 games in 10 days, and start in Houston tonight.  The Astros have the best record in baseball.  Michael Fulmer will go for his sixth win for the Tigers.  Hear the game at 7:45pm on 95.3 WBCK.
