Voters Head To The Polls To Decide Road Proposal
The vote on Proposal 1 is today. Proposal 1 would, among other things, raise the state sales tax a penny in an effort to increase funding for roads. The polls close at 8 p.m. tonight.
In addition to Proposal 1 on the statewide ballot, a number of local millages are up for a vote today. Albion residents are voting on a one half mills renewal to support City recreation programs, as well as 3 mills for streets. A millage increase is up for a vote in Eckford Township. Hastings Area Schools has a 1 mill sinking fund tax up for a vote and a $55 million dollar bond proposal for building improvements. Marshall Public Schools, Union City Community Schools, and Climax-Scott Schools also have millages on the ballot.
