The Wendy's Hamburger place near campus on West Michigan Ave. has closed. It's the third fast food franchise restaurant to close its doors recently, in the Kalamazoo area, joining Kentucky Fried Chicken and Long John Silver's.A debate on Facebook page, Vanished Kalamazoo has posts that say the store will be demolished and rebuilt like many other Wendy's in the area, or, the lease was up and it's gone for good.

Of all the locations that are now available in town that housed fast food places, the West Michigan site would be a perfect location for a White Castle. It's right near campus and if it stayed open til about 2am on Friday and Saturday night, it might have lines as long as the Chick-fil-A in Portage, especially late on weekends.

What do you think? What would be a good replacement for the Wendy's near campus? Several posters on Vanished Kalamazoo suggested Chicken Coop, but there are already those in town. Several other poster agree about White Castle. With all these abandoned locations, it's a chance to maybe get some tastes and flavors that aren't currently available here now. At the same time, it's great to see local places opening up, and some of those are worth checking out and at least trying.
